Where does it say we need to go to Church?

Aside from individuals who have been genuinely hurt through a church organization, this kind of thinking is a common problem and one which most Christians have faced at one time or another. Even in biblical times, the opposition to the assembly of God’s people was present and something which the overseers of those assemblies had to contend with and today is no different. This kind of thinking from individuals claiming to be Christian, stems mainly from their own individual lack of understanding God and His great Word to us. You hear the saying many times, “nowhere does it say in the bible, that you have to go to church.” But in their foolishness, they miss one of the most glaring and simple points of the entire New Testament.

Each and every book in the New Testament were letters written to either overseers of churches (Timothy, Titus) or to the churches themselves (Romans, Ephesians, Philippians) and this is a pure fact which these individuals overlook.  In light of that and in regards to law, assembling ourselves with other believers isn’t a law, nor a hard rule, it’s expected of any believer. If a person claims to be Christian, the natural desire is to fellowship with other believers, coming together under properly qualified, called and gifted overseers, to help us grow, encourage us and challenge us.

As a footnote; If you’re reading this today and you’re away from assembling yourself with other believers at the moment, due to any hurt or disappointment, please don’t count yourself into the above article.  Some know what it feels like to have been hurt and even betrayed through assemblies and if this describes you, God has nothing less than compassion and understanding for your situation.  Whatever your circumstances, know that God understands. Please pray and ask the Lord to come into your circumstances and help you forward.  He doesn’t want you on the sidelines, He wants you in His presence so ask Him, He can fix anything.
