Way back in the beginning, Sharon had a real urgency for us to have children and for the first few months of our new married life, this unhealthy sense continued to grow. This presented a challenge because I was still trying to find my feet in this new life with Jesus and with Sharon. I really didn’t want to add any more pressures, however, Sharon’s desire for children was robbing her of peace and making me feel all the more pressure.

One day though, an elder lady in the church, who is now with the Lord, took Sharon aside and shared with her a vision she’d had. She told Sharon that God would give us children. In fact, he’d give us two in his time and in his way. This was a confirmed word so this was the word we stood on, but little did we know we’d have to stand for nine years and quite obviously, Emily and David were the results of that promise from God!

Things move extremely fast in today’s world and for the most part, God moves with that time understanding the positions in which we find ourselves. However, what will never be rushed, is a promise from him and when I look back over my life, God’s promises turned into victory, not in a day or even a month, but into months and years. When he gives you a promise, be ready to have your patience exercised!
