TESTIMONY #7 – The Still Small Voice of God

The Still Small Voice of God

The Still Small Voice of God – 2002

Sharon got saved for the first time in her life in 2002, but I was a Christian having backslid away from the Lord in my teenage years and early 20’s. Sharon had a wondrous conversation experience, I hit the ground with a bang. She felt complete assurance from the word go, but I lacked any kind of assurance that he had forgiven me and loved me. The early months of walking with him were very difficult at times and despite great moments of seeing him work in our lives, I felt like there wasn’t anything that could happen, which would give me any kind of assurance that I was saved.

One night, before we were married, I was in my room late at night, sitting praying and looking to God as always. Afterwards, I lay down and switched off the light, ready to go to sleep. I looked up again and as quick as a flash I heard the words,’ Matthew 13:16 – Matthew 13:16 – Matthew 13:16.’ I lay there thinking that this was strange!  So I got up, switched on the light and picked up my bible to see what the scripture said and it read; blessed are your eyes for they see and your ears for they hear. You could have knocked me over with a feather. Out of the thousands of verses within the scriptures, he had led me to the exact one, which fitted my anxiety and that night, I had a good sleep!

If you’ve heard the lie that God doesn’t speak to the young or inexperienced Christian, then take a look at the dirty, rotten, backslidden Christian I was way back then and then ask yourself the question, why wouldn’t he speak to you? At times, ask the Lord to speak to you, listen and don’t be too surprised when the creator and maker of heaven and earth speaks back!
