Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

NEWS AND INFO SERIES

This long term surgery rehab has been quite dominant over this past 12 months, but it’s always been on the up, albeit a little slower than I’d like. In that time, the physical side was quite straightforward in many ways, but it did take me up until about October last year to finally be able to pick up Emily and not be out of energy. The Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, however, has been a real experience in itself. The two surgeries gone wrong, emergency operations, breathing machines and weeks in the hospital really did take their toll on not just me, but Sharon and the kids.

Sharon of course, seeing me near death more than once, and having to make some serious decisions, dealt with the trauma well and recovered in the first months. More importantly, Emily and David had their time to recover and see things get back to normal. As for me, it’s been a long road. Again, always on the up, building Tribulation Soldier Series features with social media videos has been a tremendous help.

For the better part, it’s kept me focused, allowed to do some things I enjoy as part of rehab and I’ve been in the position of getting to spend some real time with the kids. Sleep still seems to be an issue taking quite some time to drift off. Then I can be up more than once during the next few hours. Sometimes I wake up at 4 am bright and can’t get back to sleep. Next, I can wake at 9 am and feel really rough. But it’s in this that you just have to keep pushing to recover fully.

BLOG BLURB – So this is where we are at the moment and I’ll continue the way I am until we get through this. This includes cracking on building our online platform, filling it with videos and articles to surround our series and we certainly hope you enjoy!
