Easy Bible Guide Part 5
Pastor Steven Birnie
.

The Bibles we have in existence today are translations from the languages from which they were originally written, namely Aramaic, Hebrew for the Old Testament and Greek for the New Testament and this is a universal truth, which is essential to fully understanding his great Word to us through the revelation of the Holy Spirit.
.

The Hebrew and Greek languages are just simply, far superior to our own in that where we have one word which covers a range of subjects, the original might have three or more which presents an issue when it comes to translating the scriptures. This was why King James for example, in the English translation of the Authorised Version, went to such great lengths taking much time and employing many scholars, teachers and translators, to present as accurate a translation as possible for his nation and, to honour God’s Word to the fullest.Even with the great lengths King James and his labours undertook and even though the KJV is an excellent translation of the original scriptures it is, like many others, still a translation of the superior original languages and again, it’s important we understand this before deeper study of his Word as mmuch error, incomplete teachings and wrong mindsets can arise from not employing this simple method of interpretation.
.

There are a range of ways, especially today with the advancements of digital study aids, to helps us understand the books, chapters and verses of the Word in their true light and one of the best available today, would be the Free E-Sword Bible. E-Sword is free software which any can download to their PC, Laptop or Tablet device containing various translations of the Word and commentaries on the various passages as well as Hebrew and Greek Dictionaries where a user can hover over a word in the Bible and it will display the meaning of the word in the original texts. There are many other methods to translate for study however, since we can’t all be fluent in Hebrew and Greek, this is doubtless one of the simplest ways to accurately translate the original scriptures.
