Easy Bible Guide Part 1

Pastor Steven Birnie

.

What attitude we employ is vitally important when it comes to reading and studying God’s Word as poor mindset can dramatically affect what we read and what we perceive to be a true reflection of God so it’s important, we open his scriptures with a right view, ready to receive from him. It’s a way of thinking which develops the more and more we read, pray and seek the Lord and the below, would be a great beginning for any, to start exploring his great Word to us.

.

Through Faith – The first is through and by faith and it’s so important that we look at scriptures in this way because God’s Word is true, from start to finish, every word, verse and chapter, each written by men but breathed by God. This is something we need to believe, we need to believe that God doesn’t lie and that we can have complete confidence in every single thing he says even if we might not understand it at first. There’s no doubt, that if you’ve truly repented and put your faith in Jesus Christ, you already have a flavor of just how much you can trust him and if you trust him, even just a little at the moment, you can most certainly trust his Word to you.

.

By Grace – This is another aspect we need to be very clear about as a Christian individual, is that we are no longer bound by an Old Testament in the Lord, we are now free in the New Testament through Jesus and with this newness of Christ, comes a new agreement with God and mankind, his Grace. It’s vital we look through God’s Word, seeking him through each step with the mindset that you are now, in The Divine Unmerited Favor of God whether you’re up, down, back to front, upside down or really struggling. God the Father, because of Jesus Christ, now looks upon on us in this way and the Word tells that there is no variableness in him at all, he doesn’t change his view even if we do, he still thinks the same of you each and every day and if you’ve given your life to Jesus Christ, then friend he accepts you just as you are, the way you are today. He may correct us from time to time but be assured, his Grace never departs, not even for a moment.

.

In the light of his Love – Many look upon love in the wrong light, sometimes looking at it from a worldly point of view or a romantic point of view but true love, God’s love, is very different indeed. God’s Word to us is a message of love covered in grace and that love, is love that will never quit on you, it will never throw in the towel and say it’s done with you, God’s love says I’m committed to you and I won’t let you down. God’s love says I would think no evil of you, I wouldn’t keep a record of wrongs about you and I am there no matter how long the fight and struggle, I’m with you. I’ll be with you when the nights are dark and I’ll be there with you on the summers day, I will not leave, I will not falter, even of you do – This is the true nature of God’s love toward his children, so when we pick up God’s Word, this is what our mindset should be, knowing that God accepts us just the way we are.

.

The above three examples are the basic but important beginnings of how we should read God’s Word and what our mindset and attitude should be. Through faith, believing what he says is true from start to finish, through Grace knowing that we have a divine unmerited favor upon our lives because of Jesus Christ and last, but certainly not least, reading his Word in the light of how it was written, in the true nature of the Love of God. Christian if you pick up his Word, read, feel condemned, black and down then close the book, stop and pray, reminding yourself of the above mindsets then pick it up again.

.

There’s one truth which we all need to be very clear about when we read God’s Word and it’s that God, has far more of a desire to fellowship with us than we ever will with him and he proved that, when he sent his only Son Jesus Christ to die on the Cross to restore fellowship between himself and mankind. God went to great lengths, he always has, to restore fellowship with the people he loves, so never think God doesn’t want or can’t speak to you through his scriptures because it’s the greatest desire he has.
