Questions Answered

.

I can certainly see why this type of question arises as the scriptures as a whole, are a tremendously vast and deep collection of books which for most take years to study, to understand and get a handle on the writings. In addition, there are over 120 English Versions of the original scriptures today which can range from being excellent, to being quite a poor depending on the accuracy of the translation and when we look at the bible in this light, it’s easy to see why some would feel there are inconsistencies. The accuracy of the translation is one of the keys to this question in that if it’s good, the bible doesn’t appear contradictory however, if the translation is bad, it can become very inconsistent indeed.
.
The second aspect to consider is the fact these translations of the scriptures are just that, translations, translations of the original scriptures recorded in the Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic which presents a challenge because put simply, these languages are far superior to our own. Taking the Greek as an example which is the original language of the New Testament, we will have one word for a word like love whereas the Greeks will have several, illustrating in detail which kind of love they are explaining. So when you read the scriptures in English, love will appear multiple times yet if you reference the word against the Greek, you’ll find they use different words.
.
These are the key factors to consider when we look at a question like ‘does the bible contradict itself?’, so in answer to the question, yes certain translations will show inconsistencies due to the quality of the translation however, and it’s a big however, the original Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic texts do not, not even in the slightest, of that you can be absolutely sure. God’s true Word proves time and time again just how accurate it is, whether it be a historical or moral question, it continues to stand sure, even with new discoveries in technology, archaeological finds and new scientific theory. Thousands upon thousands of Christians, theologians, Pastors and even educated, unbiased, secular, scholars have put God to the test and failed to find fault and I’m sure that fact will continue until the day of his coming.

“….Our Lord God Almighty, the Creator and Maker of Heaven and Earth inspired his Great Word, through 40 different Authors from Shepherds, Scholars, Fishermen, and Prophets to Kings, a Military General, a Cup-bearer and Priests from three different continents and in three different languages. Over a period of 2000 years, these Authors wrote from places of exile, wilderness, from palaces and prisons showing their own emotions from joy, peace and victories to deep pain, frustrations and dark valleys. Often these men paid the price for the truth by their own blood, sweat and tears to write the 66 Books of the Scriptures containing 1,189 chapters, 31,102 verses with 788,280 words recording history, giving instruction and pronouncing judgement. Through inspiration and all power, God brought these writings together, into a seamless unity of truth and as history unfolds, with hundreds of predictions having been fulfilled with absolute precision regardless of scientific breakthrough or historical finds, his Word continues to prove to be a flawless, divine inspiration from a God who loves mankind with an everlasting love….”
