Children’s Home Vision

.

Good evening,

.

What with Christmas and the New Year season having past, I realised I haven’t posted an update concerning our Children’s Home vision so tonight, I thought I might just share some thoughts on my heart as an article for you to enjoy. Most of you who have read before will know that aside from our Pastoral Work and this Online Bookshop, we’ve had a deep desire and vision to open a Christian Children’s Home in our area which we feel the Lord has laid on our hearts to do.  It’s been with us ever since we began as Youth Pastors and has carried on right through stepping back for a season and going through the birth of our two new babies.

.

It’s strange when the Lord gives you that vision initially, you feel that excitement, the courage to go forward and then, you can’t help imagining what it might be like to move forward with a vision like that however, as time begins to play out, things change and events take place which seem to cloud the vision and place doubts in your mind.  There’s no doubt God stretches our faith with these things to build us more as Christians and increase our knowledge of him however, that tends to be just part of it.

.

You see as time goes on you begin to learn more about the vision God has given you but not only that, you begin to see just why God won’t and more to the point can’t give you what he has promised just yet.  For this vision, we began to see more clearly why we are years down the line with this and not months like we expected, God knew, after nine years of promising us babies that Sharon would fall pregnant with Emily, he knew after that she would then fall pregnant with David, he knew that we’d have to step back for a season, he knew we’d need to build this bookshop further to fund the Children’s home…he knew…he knew…he knows.

.

Furthermore he knew that we’d change, he knew that we needed to build a firm foundation in our own family first, he knew that we’d be moving church and Pastoring closer to home, he knew….he knew..he knows.  There are events which take place and I often look to the Lord and say, “you knew that was going to happen, that’s why we didn’t do this or didn’t do that, why that door didn’t open when I thought or that blessing come when I thought I needed it”. He knows, he knows everything but at times that belief can become cloudy and tiresome but, God understands, he knew that we might find it hard, he knew we might question him, he knew that I was going to doubt him, he knew.

.

Yet, he still gave the promise in the first place, he didn’t look ahead and say “I’m not going to give that promise because I know Steven will doubt me, question me and get frustrated”. He gave it anyway because he knows that he is faithful even when we’re faithless, he doesn’t falter even when we falter and he doesn’t give up on the vision, even if we do….he’s God.

.

I’m glad in some respects that I’m writing this tonight not having seen the vision take place yet because it’s easy to say when it has but to be honest, if I was honest with myself, I can’t think of one event which has taken place in my life as a Christian where God has not done what he said he was going to do.  I might not have liked the way he did it but it doesn’t alter the fact that it’s true, I cannot think of one thing he has went back on his word about, not one!

.

If you’re reading this tonight and you don’t know the Lord as your Saviour then I pray something in this message has spoken to you.  You might have heard about Jesus or heard people try to prove to you about Jesus, but the above is real, it’s a real experience I’m going through with a real and ever present God and I pray, you’ll take some time to think about this tonight.  If you are reading this and you are saved, then I hope this reinforces, encourages and builds up faith in Jesus Christ, he doesn’t let us down….

.

As ever we will keep you up to date with our progress, at the moment the vision remains unfulfilled however I’m sure he will do again, that which he has promised.

.

God bless

Steven
