Questions Answered

Author and Pastor, Rev. Steven Birnie

“….As Christians, what should we think about modern-day End Time Predictions?….”

There is a very simple answer to the question of The End Time Predictions and the answer is, nobody knows, nobody, not one person who has or ever will walk the earth, knows the date or time in which Jesus will come back for his Church. This particular fact is one which is abundantly clear within the scriptures yet many believe God has some secret hidden code determining the time and date and on top of that, many men have claimed divine revelation from God himself on this subject. Many individuals over the course of history have put forth their predictions giving the date of his return only to see their prediction fail or in many cases change, further confirming again and again, that no-one knows, so why do individuals continue to search and predict the coming of Christ?
There can be a range of reasons as to why individuals follow these particular paths including emotional issues, being deceived and not testing the spirits in the correct manner however, the common issue within them all, is a simple lack of understanding of how the end times will play out according to His Word. To understand this, you first must consider Old Testament Prophecy, the words of Jesus Christ, various scriptures in the Epistles and of course the Book of Revelations to formulate the series of events, which have taken place and will take place in the future. When you have this series firmly in your mind, it then becomes easy to dismiss these predictions as well as see clearly where it is they have drawn their faulty conclusions.
The simple truth is that the End Times began the moment Jesus bowed his head on the cross, or on the day he was born if you wish to look at it that way, opening the door to the fifth great age on earth, the age of Grace and Worldwide Evangelism. In this, an eternal life in Jesus Christ is now open to any who choose and at a predetermined time, which only the Father knows, Jesus will come back for his church ushering in the seven-year marriage feast of the lamb in heaven for his saints and the seven-year trials and tribulation period here on earth for those left behind. It’s from the above belief, that we witness about Jesus looking ahead to that time coming, the hope of glory in our hearts, knowing that Christ could come back tonight or in 100 years time but to us, it simply shouldn’t matter when. Having the firm assurance of salvation in him, we should be living our life in that freedom he bought, to get to know him more, live that resurrected life and fellowship with Jesus in his ongoing sufferings for his church and the salvation of men.
I hope from the above that you’ll feel the confidence to not dismiss God’s Word about the end times, it is a tremendously interesting and exciting subject to study, but to dismiss these predictions knowing that no man knows….
